For those of you that know me, you know how excited I can get about our new products. And our 2nd 100% open source dev kit is no exception. Meet Qomu – our first dev kit that literally fits INSIDE a USB Type A port found on almost every computer in the world.

Qomu Dev Kit features our low power SoC, complete with an Arm® Cortex®-M4F + eFPGA combination that is highly flexible and so easily accommodates a wide range of designs – where one does not need to be a Verilog expert. The tiny board plugs straight into USB Type A ports and, as part of our QORC initiative, is supported by ALL of the great open source software such as Zephyr, FreeRTOS, SymbiFlow, and Renode. It’s also supported by nMigen for a Python-to-FPGA design flow.

Having both an extremely low power embedded processor and low power FPGA technology makes Qomu the perfect development platform for a variety of applications, but especially edge IoT applications and artificial intelligence/machine learning capabilities.

When I look back at the large physical size of our dev kits over the years, I am just in awe at how TINY Qomu is. And that leads to the part that is most exciting. This incredible development was only possible through the incredible collaboration between our Engineering team and the Open Source community. Special kudos on the final hardware design goes to Sean Cross, a well-known and highly respected designer in the open source community.

As with our first generation dev kit QuickFeather, Qomu will launch exclusively on Crowd Supply.
