Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE™)
This new technology delivers the next generation of mobile entertainment experience by adapting display data, in real-time, to improve the viewing experience on LCDs under low backlight or in bright ambient light conditions. QuickLogic’s proven VEE solution does this by dynamically matching the characteristics of the LCD, the current backlight and ambient light conditions, as well as the color and brightness of the display data. VEE technology is available as a QuickLogic Proven System Block option for CSSPs based on the PolarPro and ArcticLink II families of Solution Platforms.
Highlights
VEE supports:
- TV-quality visual experience in mobile devices through dynamic range control
- Greatly enhanced image and Video quality even under low backlight or bright ambient conditions
- Dramatically improved battery life by reducing backlight
X/Y Swap
Handheld devices are becoming more advanced and handling more multi-media applications than ever before. As handheld devices continue to advance in sophistication, their capabilities and features will continue to become more like PCs or laptops. A capability that is also starting to emerge in these handheld devices is the ability to drive an external monitor, projector or television. This capability is commonly known as Video graphics array (VGA) or TV-out functionality. It is predicted that greater than 40% of all Smartphones will include TV-out functionality as a de-facto feature by 2010.
While adding a feature such as VGA or TV-out may seem as simple as adding the appropriate connector, its addition presents many system design challenges in the areas of power management, device interoperability, and user interaction.

MIPI
Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) represents a set of specifications published by the MIPI Alliance, a non-profit corporation that operates as an open membership organization formed to promote open specifications for interfaces in mobile terminals. The MIPI Specifications establish standards for hardware and software interfaces between the processors and peripherals typically found in mobile products.
QuickLogic joins more than 100 leading companies to support the industry alignment on physical interfaces among processors and peripheral devices. As a solution provider to the mobile industry, QuickLogic enables customers to enhance their platforms with new features and requirements without the costly development of complete new platforms.
